Soft Dunlop Latex for Mattress Manufacturers
A soft feel is now possible in Dunlop. Our graphite infused natural Dunlop latex at D55 density gives an extra soft feel, closer to what a D45 to D50 would normally feel like, at ILD 12 to 20.
Why Soft Comfort Layers Have Usually Been Talalay
Dunlop latex is poured and cured in a single pass, which generally makes it denser and firmer than Talalay. Talalay adds vacuum expansion and freezing steps that produce a lighter, softer foam. For that reason, buyers who need a soft comfort layer have usually specified Talalay, even when the rest of the build is Dunlop.
Graphite infused Dunlop latex at D55 gives you a soft option within Dunlop. You can specify the comfort layer and the support core in the same process, from one supplier.

The Technical Basis: Elongation
Elongation is how far a test sample stretches under tension before it breaks. On an SGS tensile test, our graphite infused latex reached elongation of up to 410%, against about 290% for standard latex.
Higher elongation means more stretch, so the foam gives a softer response under the same load. This is the property behind the softer feel of graphite infused latex.

Breathability
- Natural latex foam has an open-cell structure, so air can move through the material.

Firmness Range
D55 Extra Soft is the grade for soft comfort layers. Graphite infused latex is also available across the full range, up to D95 Extra Firm for support cores. Ranges overlap slightly at the edges, which is normal in foam manufacturing.
